He has two sons, one huge and muscular but dull-witted, and the other intelligent but tiny and weak. All Joe needs is heirs, but the ruination of the world makes that difficult. The fat man takes over a nearby oil refinery and becomes known as the People-Eater, ruler of Gas Town. Kalashnikov becomes the Bullet Farmer, remaking a lead mine into an arms plant for Immortan Joe's army. Joe becomes the absolute ruler of the stone towers and their aquifer, which becomes known as The Citadel. After everyone has given up and believes him dead, Joe emerges victorious over the place's defenders, thus gaining his reputation as immortal. Aided by his right-hand man, Major Kalashnikov, and an unnamed "fat man," Joe invades a well-guarded tower of rock which sits over a huge natural aquifer. As told in the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel comic by George Miller, Nico Lathouris, and Mark Sexton, Immortan Joe was once a military veteran named Colonel Joe Moore, who became the leader of a gang of raiders after the collapse of civilization. The settlers got all their gasoline out on their bus! After a wreck kills both Wez and Humungus, it turns out that the tanker was full of sand. Left unguarded, the other settlers are free to escape to the North, unpursued. When the tanker is attached, Max drives it out himself, with Humungus and the Marauders in pursuit. With the help of the Gyro Captain, Max returns with a semi truck. When Humungus offers to let the peaceful settlers go if they give him all of their fuel, Max makes them a better deal: He'll procure a truck that can haul their oil tanker if they'll refuel his car and let him go on his way. However, Max befriends the unsocialized Feral Kid (Emil Minty) and soon wins over more of the local population. Max soon gains entry to the compound, but the leader Papagallo (Mike Preston) wants nothing to do with him. The Gyro Captain leads Max to the aforementioned oil refinery compound, which is under siege by the Marauders, the much larger gang that Wez belongs to, which is led by the masked Humungus (Kjell Nilsson). The more we think about it, this kind of fierce bidding is full-on appropriate to buy one of the cars from. Bidders will also only have two days to submit their bids-September 25 and 26-and they will never see what other people offer. Instead, the vehicles are being sold as a tender, which means prospective buyers submit sealed bids and the seller will simply choose the winning amount from among the submissions. This isn't your typical auction where people bid one another up. The film's release date was recently pushed back to 2024 instead of summer 2023.Īt this point, none of the actions have a minimum bid listed, and we may never know what they end up selling for, either. The new film will focus on the back story for Imperator Furiosa, the role played by Charlize Theron in. It's a good time to be auctioning off these vehicles, too, since there's news buzzing around about the prequel that director George Miller is working on. There's also a hot-rodded version of a 1932 Chevrolet coupe and a Ford F-250 outfitted with a huge claw on the back that was called the Sabre Tooth, and more, including the Doof Wagon (top), perhaps the most iconic of all the vehicles thanks to countless speakers and the Doof himself. The vehicles run the gamut from the massive War Rig tanker truck to the modified 1973 XB Ford Falcon coupe called the Razor Cola. For example, in explaining what the War Rig tanker is all about, the auction house writes: "Mutant lovechild of semi-trailer and hot rod, twin V8s end to end, six-wheel-drive, eighteen-wheeled leviathan charged with the barter of fluids and firearms that binds the three city-states of the Wasteland in tenuous alliance." For the Jag Flamer convoy car, the auction listing description reads: "The sandblasted and shiny chassis speaks of construction once upon a time in GasTown, but it has now found fame as part of Furiosa's convoy: such is recycling in the shifting sands of the Wasteland." The company running the auction, Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers, fully understands what it's selling here, getting into character for the item descriptions.
